Description
This fun-loving, original sea shanty is sure to be a hit with your emerging low voice choirs. The song tells a story of the Pirate King’s heir, whose dreams are dashed when the day arrives to take his naval throne. His seasickness prevents him from replacing his retiring dad, The Pirate King. Down on his luck, he takes an audition with the local Opera house and realizes he can still be the king of the high C’s (seas). The tenor line is written to be sung in falsetto (for lots of practice) OR is perfectly suited for your cambiata singers (unchanged voices). The Baritone and Bass lines are written in a way that every singer in your ensemble will have something they can sing comfortably. Each part has a small range so no need to stress as a teacher about large tessitura needs.
You DO NOT want to miss this crowd pleaser. If you have a group of “hams” in your tenor bass choir, choreography would only strengthen this piece with some very funny zingers that could easily be acted out.
